PERFORMER

Giles Stelfox creates the music of a solo-artist with the sound of a band; he is a highly experienced live musician based in Reading, UK. Challenging the definition of live performance, Giles live loops arrangements of songs from scratch, whilst still showcasing his charisma and attention-grabbing energy to connect with any crowd at any event. Giles has been featured and acclaimed by BBC Introducing, and has been a semi-finalist for The Pilton Stage Glastonbury competition in 2022, performing in front of founder, Sir Michael Eavis. He has had over 130 engagements in 2024 including high level corporate events, weddings and private parties across the UK.

For his covers sets, expect modern takes on classic covers and sing-along anthems with a set list ranging from 70s hits all the way to modern day. Highlights include: 'Pompeii', 'Wake Me Up', 'Tainted Love', ''Everybody Wants To Rule The World' As It Was', 'Babylon' and 'Everywhere'. Giles' solo live setups are acoustic, sometimes electric, guitar driven with unique set lists tailored to each event. He travels with his own PA and lighting, all fully self contained, PLI insured and PAT tested.

"An ingenious artist who manages to flesh out his pop songs with just himself and his own wizardry" - Shaun Keaveny, BBC Radio 6.

Giles works with various agencies including EventUK, Encore and Gigrealm for club chains and functions. To book Giles directly for private or public events, please contact gilesstelfoxmusic@outlook.com.

Giles' covers repertorie consists of over 100 songs. Included are a mixture of pop, indie and rock tunes from several decades, 1960s to present day. He takes requests especially for weddings and private parties, with a two week turnaround for new songs. Giles adapts his set list for a variety of time slots. Typical sets are 2x45' or 3x45' but he can perform up to 4 hours, with enough material to accommodate. Giles also has a DJ style playlist in between sets, so there is always music across the entire booking, even during breaks, setup and pack down.

Giles is a trained sound engineer and travels with a large 3400w PA system with subwoofer to suit up to 150 people, or a small outdoor festival stage. He also has a selection of immersive LED lighting to transform any venue into the perfect atmosphere. Larger events can also be catered for via his relationship with PA hire dealers. FAQs

How does the booking process work?

Typically, the process starts with an initial enquiry via email, phone call or on the booking section below. This is followed by a quote depending on timings, date, number of sets, location of the gig and various other details. After this, a discussion is usually made about the type of performance, choice of songs and the nitty gritty details such as arrival and curfew times. Giles holds enquiries for a maximum of 5 days if he is free, so don't hesitate to get in touch if you have a specific date in mind!

Where is Giles from and how far will he travel?

Giles is based in Reading and will travel to all corners of the UK. Giles will also travel abroad for weddings and private events. 200 miles round trip is typically the limit before accommodation will need to be booked. Regional gigs usually don't have any travel costs added on, but this may be the case for gigs further away. Get in touch for more details.

What kind of performance does Giles give?

Giles is extremely versatile. From chilled out restaurant background music, to high energy band-like sets, he can do it all. For example, Giles has been booked for a fully acoustic drinks reception with laid back tunes, alongside a big upbeat dance floor filling set at the end of the night. Giles uses live looping with guitars and electronic drums sounds to give a band-like sound without sounding gimmicky. Think of Ed Sheeran on steroids (yes this was an actual review given by a BBC Radio 6 presenter!)

How loud is the performance?

Giles always reads the room and almost never gets complaints about volume (usually he gets asked to turn it up!). Although he carries a monster PA system, he is a very skilled sound engineer who goes as far as measuring the decibel level for every gig to make sure it is within safe limits. The goal is to fill the room with music, but at a comfortable level for each type of event.

What does Giles bring?

Giles brings everything! All that is required is access to two independent plug sockets and enough space to accommodate himself and the PA system. Giles brings a DJ sized PA with subwoofer to give a huge sound, along with uplighters to position around the venue to create ambience. Parking will be required within close proximity of the venue. All equipment is industry standard, PAT tested and insured with the MU. If you are a super equipment geek, drop Giles a message or check out his Tech Spec.

What songs does Giles play, and can I request anything?

Giles has a vast collection of popular songs from 1960s to present day and is constantly adding new music weekly. Requests can be made prior to the event with enough time for Giles to realistically prepare them properly. As he is solo, not all songs can be possible (i.e. Bohemian Rapsody) but he will do his absolute best to accommodate these. As a rule of thumb, maximum of 5 requests with no more than 2 weeks before the event.

How many songs does Giles perform per gig?

Giles averages 9 songs per 45 minute set. He has a lot of medleys that keep the beat going throughout, so sometimes he can do up to 14 per hour! For longer bookings, i.e. three hours of music, Giles prepares and performs 36 songs with various levels of vibe to suit the gig.

Does Giles perform first dances at Weddings?

Absolutely! In fact, it is encouraged. The added live element of performing a first dance makes it so much more memorable. Giles has a number of first dances in his song lists, but please send over your choice in good time as there can be no room for error on these kinds of tunes!

Can I pick my own set list?

You can pick songs from Giles' covers list but please do not send set lists. This is because Giles reads the room and vibe of the evening and chooses songs as he goes along. Giles has a lot of pro experience in picking the right song to suit the moment, so have no fear!

Will Giles travel abroad?

As mentioned above, Giles will travel abroad for events. Weddings are the most common overseas gigs. These events are highly bespoke so please get in touch with Giles if you plan to book an abroad gig. Typically, quotes will be made excluding travel and equipment hire.
